Welcome to 2023

Thank you all

We made it through Christmas, so firstly, thank you all for getting us through 2022. Things are starting to quieten off right now, which is great news for everyone's energy levels but probably not your pay slips. While it slows down a bit we are being hit with a lot of time off over the coming months so those still working may not feel like it is slowing down at all.

The next couple of months, especially in the Baringa shed, are going to be stressful to say the least. We already have a maximum of people taking time off and with injures and emergency time off for people we will be pushed past our breaking point on certain days till at least April. We are currently looking for someone to work full time for 2 months to help fill the gaps we are about to see, but this person will be hard to find with nothing guaranteed after that 2 months being a hard sell. If you know anyone that is looking for a few months work with no promise of work after that, please let us know.

What we have planned for 2023

Currently the business is suffering from two major issues that we are trying our best to fix. These will not be easy fix's, but they need to happen. Currently the hierarchy of the business is not in a place that we need. Over the coming months we will be setting a structure in place to move forward into 2023 in a far better position. We will be more defining the roles of the hierarchy over this time too to give everyone a clear idea of what their role is in Wilkinson Carriers and who they work with to get solutions to issues when the arise.

We are looking for expressions of interest from people to take a more senior role in the company going forward, especially in the Baringa parcel operations. If you are interested, please send us an email and we will see if you fit into the roles we are trying to create.

The second problem we are trying to fix with the company is the lack of direction we currently have. We have had not goals for a very long time and that has been ok, till last year and now sees the company drifting along with no end point. We will be creating a plan of where we are heading and how we get there. You may think this doesn't really mean much to you but each part of the company will receive different goals at different times as we fight to make the company more profitable in 2023. This will allow the hierarchy of the business work closer with the people they are working with and create more positive interactions with these people as we watch you all smash your goals.

2023 really will be an important year for Wilkinson Carriers as we try to set the foundations for the next decade or two of the business and make sure everyone is safe in their job and happy to work everyday.

Future communication

We trialed the chat function with the websites mobile app and we have found it to be very lacking compared to other free programs out there that we are already using in many parts of the business. So on that note we will be moving some of the more important parts of the company's communication over to the free app, WhatsApp. Look out for an email on that soon explaining how to download this app and how to get yourself into the relevant groups going forward. This will allow you all more direct communications with each other incase you need help but also allow us the avenue to get information out to people quickly and to those who need it more accurately the the mobile app would allow.

Reminder about safety

Finally, please be safe everyone. I know we have just got past the peak period but that comes along with its own set of issues. We are all exhausted and not as focused as we were in the peak period. This means we don't take as much care and things can go wrong quickly. I have seen a number of near misses in my travels this week and a lot of short cuts being taken to get the job done quicker. Please remember your safety is first priority and we want you all o get home safely every night. So please, be careful out there and don't take silly risks to get the job done quicker.
