The current trend on Parcel numbers for 2023

After multiple years of growth in our company for parcel numbers, we are finally starting to slow down. This looks like to higher peaks and lower down times that I thought the increased cost of living would finally have on us. What people seem to be doing is looking for big sales and only spending the money when they have to or there is a bargain to be found.
What does this mean for us?
Well, the weeks before Christmas saw us increase from last year's numbers by up to 31% however, in the lead-up to December we were either on par with last year or down by 5%.
In 2023 though, we have not matched or bettered last year's numbers once. In fact, the first week of February saw us 11% down on last year and the second week of February down 6%. Overall this year we are currently 6% down on last year's numbers overall.
So expect the next couple of months to be quieter than you are used to but I suspect that the week of Mother's day, generally our busiest time of the year outside of Christmas could be busier than we are used to.
So enjoy this break while things are a bit quieter and rest up for the first two weeks in May, because they could be busy. If things start to change with the numbers, I will keep you all informed.
