Peak Planning is underway

This week I am spending most of my time on three main aspects of the business. I will be working on some KPIs for everyone as we need to work on our overall parcels per hour to help the business become profitable again now we have downsized. I am also working on a Roster and new structure for the employees in Baringa so people have a more solid idea of what is expected of them along with A better way to support staff that are here for the long run.
The big project for this week is Peak, especially in Baringa. As a whole, Australia Post is talking about the 19th of November to start Sunday deliveries this year. As with last year, we are looking at the first weekend closely to see if we need to do it or not, but by the 26th of November Sunday deliveries will be in full swing. Once again it will be a process that will ramp up as we get closer to Christmas. Also, Christmas Eve Sunday, or Saturday being my preference, is on the cards if we can't clear by the Friday before Christmas. Last year we cleared without an issue and with the lower expectations for parcels this year, December 22nd should be our last day of Deliveries before we return on the 27th of December to deliver more parcels.
We are about to hire a new staff member in Gympie to replace Aleisha. This staff member will take on the Christmas Casual position up there till after Christmas and then we will keep them on full-time going forward. This will mean you will have Josh up there till after Christmas to help ease the pressure of peak up there from the start.
Current projections have us looking at one more Casual to be employed in the Baringa shed. This person will take on the role Leigh is currently filling with the morning sort, helping people load, late express, and bulk. Leigh will then help with delivering the overflow on a few runs and Tayler will cover the overflow on the rest of the runs. This should see us through peak and into the new year without the long-hour issues of the past as all staff will be trained and up to speed from the start.
Once I have more information locked in about Peak I will pass it on, but for now, thanks for all the hard work.
