How can you help?

Parcel Priority

The main focus at the moment is to live up to Australia Post's priority of parcels.

This priority is as follows -

1. First priority is Premium Parcels (express and star track) are to be delivered on the day it arrives. No exception.

2. Second priority is any off-peak parcels (anything that is not express or star track) that have been in the shed for more than a day or your van from non-delivered parcels the previous day.

3. Third priority any off-peak parcels that have arrived in the depot that day.

4. Fourth priority any consignments deemed to be "bulk" off-peak consignments. These will be classed as bulk ONLY by management (Shed manager or team leaders)

So to make it clear, parcels of the lowest priorities are the first to be left behind first, before anything of a higher priority.

Help Catch up

If you have room in your van or time in your day you need to talk to management about helping others catch up on parcels they are behind. If we are leaving parcels that day and you will be finishing early and have space in your van Australia Post deems that as not fulfilling our contractual obligations. So please, don't wait to be asked, come forward and see If you can be of use in our effort to catch up. Management doesn't want to ask you to do more work, and it just saves a little time and stress if you take the initiative and seek out more work yourselves.

Also, If you have a full van and still finish early because you have some bulk drops please use the WhatsApp application to see if others need help finishing their runs.

Finally, if your van is full and you will have time to do more then see if someone has space in their van to help store some parcels for you to deliver once you have emptied your van. especially with the larger van back in the fleet for now we can use the space in that van to help us catch up even if your van is full when you leave the depot.

9 am truck

If you are ready to leave the shed significantly before the 9 am truck is due to arrive in the depot please talk to someone else near your run or management and see if your late parcels can be transported out to you or left at the wises road post office for you to collect later and deliver. Cutting back on downtime really can make a difference in the long run to the profitability of the business.

We will be changing start times to help people get out earlier and have a dedicated transport of late parcels to these drivers in the future. Expect this change over the coming 6 weeks.

How does all this help?

Well by helping us catch up sooner and prioritising the correct parcels you help remove some of the stress coming from Australia Post and help build a strong relationship between our company and theirs. In turn, this helps us work better with Australia Post and we tend to get more back from them in the way of help and support when we need it.

Secondly, it helps take the stress off management as we can all focus on the other tasks at hand instead of trying to deal with the constant issue of how are we going to get everything done now. This isn't just me but Tayler and Taylor as well. We all have jobs we need to focus on and removing these issues from our days just makes everyones days easier.
